The first general meeting of the Greater Tokyo Biocommunity (GTB) Council was held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, marking the official launch of the GTB. Mr. NAGAYAMA Osamu, President of the Japan Bioindustry Association (JBA), was elected as Chairman of the Council, and Mr. MIYASAKA Manabu, Vice Governor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and Dr. WATANABE Toshiya, Vice President of the University of Tokyo, were elected as Vice Chairmen.
The GTB will build a strategic value chain by integrating and networking various organizations that perform various functions from R&D to commercialization, and will also establish a system to become a “bio-innovation hub” that attracts human resources and investment from around the world and provides attractive products and services to the market.
A total of 42 organizations, including local governments, universities and research institutes, biotechnology-related organizations, industrial support organizations, and financial and investment institutions, have endorsed the above objectives and are participating in the council.
