Site Visit to Nihonbashi Area and the 8th GTB Working-Level Meeting Held

On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, the 8th Greater Tokyo Biocommunity (GTB) Working-Level Meeting was successfully held in a hybrid format, combining both in-person and online participation. The venue for the in-person session was Mitsui Link-Lab Shinkiba 2, located in the Nihonbashi area-one of the eight GTB Innovation Promotion Hubs. A total of 124 participants attended, with 89 joining on-site and 35 online. Japan’s Bioeconomy Strategy (2024)

The Bioeconomy Strategy formulated in 2019 was updated at the Integrated Innovation Strategy Promotion Council held on June 3, 2024. In this strategy, in order to contribute to both sustainable economic growth and solving various problems, the following five market areas were identified:   (1) Biomanufacturing / bio-derived products (2) Sustainable primary production systems (3) Large-scale buildings utilizing wood and smart forestry (4) Industries related to biopharmaceuticals, regenerative medicine, and cell and gene therapies (5) Lifestyle improvement healthcare and digital health   The goal is to create a 100 trillion yen market in Japan and overseas by 2030.   For each market, the plan sets out a vision for 2030

Japan Bioindustry Association (JBA) and NPO Kinki Bio-Industry Development Organization (KBDO) jointly publish and manage “Japanese Life Science Startup List,” a database to introduce the activities of various types of Japanese life science startups.
